WHEN WILL THE COVID-19 VIRUS GO?

Covid-19 has been here for roughly 2 years and it’s still spreading like wildfire affecting the country’s economy, forcing people to stay at their homes, and disturbing every big and small business. Moreover, its affecting people’s mental health, and times have been tough for everyone.

The vaccine news gave hope to the people that things will be back to normal soon but no one knows how long it’s going to take to get everyone vaccinated and will the vaccine work or not.
When will the virus go? That is the question that the whole world has taken the responsibility to ruminate about and figure out.

Among all this haphazard, the UAE government has begun manufacturing the Hayat-Vax which is a locally produced inactivated covid-19 vaccine. It was originated by Sinopharm China National Biotec Group. Sinopharm is one of the biggest pharmaceutical bodies in the world.
The vaccine production is happening at a facility which is owned by Ras Al Khaimah- a pharmaceutical firm based in Julphar. Moreover, a joint venture was launched between Sinopharm and Abu Dhabi-G42 which is named Life Sciences and Vaccine Manufacturing.

PRODUCTION CAPACITY

The joint venture was launched on Sunday by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister.

The vaccine production capacity initially is at two million doses per month but later a facility will be opened for this purpose at KIZAD free zone in Abu Dhabi which will produce 200 million vaccine doses every year.

Sheikh Abdullah said, “This joint venture is [another of] UAE’s contribution towards global efforts that address the Covid-19 pandemic. The UAE, with the guidance of its wise leadership, believes in the importance of strengthening collective international action.”

The Hayat-Vax is going to be the first Covid-19 vaccine to be developed in the Arab world. It is the same Sinopharm BiBP inactivated vaccine that was registered by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) and was also registered by the Chinese Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) in China.

VACCINATION REACH

The UAE has vaccinated more than half of its adult population who were eligible for it. In the latest statistics released by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, it was shown that more than 8 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.

Moreover, the quicker the process of vaccine production occurs, the faster more and more people can get it and be protected from the virus. In regards to the production of more vaccine, the UAE has launched the Hope Consortium, that aims to enhance the delivery and access of the vaccine across the whole world. The Department of Health led by the Abu Dhabi health regulator is planning to organize a two-day summit where all experts can come and discuss the current problems and find solutions in vaccine production and delivery.

CONCLUSION

All in all, vaccine production has been started in the UAE and more arrangements are being made to help the process get done faster. And the answer to the question of when will the virus go is, very soon.
